Base Christchurch ****Base Christchurch has the “best location in the city” on Cathedral Square and was the winner of the 2008 Golden Backpack award (best New Zealand Hostel). Base Christchurch is a friendly, fun and clean hostel with 24-hour reception, 2 kitchens, laundry facilities, dining room, Wi-Fi and Sky TV. A travel desk is also at your disposal for bookings and information. The hostel offers a variety of dorms with private or shared bathrooms. The female-only Sanctuary rooms offer extra comfort and come with a Welcome gift pack. The Penthouse floor has its own cooking and entertainment facilities, as well as a balcony with barbecue area. All the rooms are secure with swipe card key and individual lockers. Free bed linen is provided. The Saints & Sinners bar features live bands, karaoke nights, happy hours and games room. Located in the heart of Christchurch, this Base hostel is just minutes from cafes, bars, shops and attractions including the Arts Centre and the Botanic Gardens. Please note that for bookings of more than 2 guests, bedding in the same room cannot be guaranteed. The City Flyer Bus departs from outside the International Arrivals Terminal of Christchurch Airport and arrives at Cathedral Square, 150 metres from the hostel.
