The Averard ***A beautiful Victorian building, this traditional family-run hotel still retains many of its original features; today it offers comfortable accommodation at good-value rates. First opened in 1925, the Averard boasts 60 comfortable en suite rooms. Each room is well equipped with all the comforts and facilities you need in a restful and relaxing base, including a TV and telephone. Rooms are serviced on a daily basis and the hotel is favoured by its many regular guests for its warm and friendly atmosphere The hotel is located in the heart of London, close to Marble Arch and the West End, with many tourist attractions within walking distance. Opposite Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens, you can take a relaxing stroll in these beautiful parks just by crossing the road. By Air (from London Heathrow Airport): The Heathrow Express is a direct high-speed train that runs between all of the terminals at Heathrow Airport and London Paddington train station. Trains depart every 15 minutes and the journey time is 15 minutes. The hotel is just 5 minutes’ walk from London Paddington station or alternatively, taxis are readily available from just outside the station. You could also take the Tube to Lancaster Gate London Underground station, which is less than 5 minutes’ walk from the hotel. The A2 Airbus also runs directly from the airport to Lancaster Gate station. By Air (from London Gatwick Airport): The Gatwick Express train leaves from Gatwick Airport’s South Terminal building and runs to London Victoria station. Trains depart every 15 minutes, 24 hours a day. Taxis are readily available from just outside Victoria station or you can take the Tube to Lancaster Gate London Underground station, which is less than 5 minutes’ walk from the hotel. By Air (from London Stansted Airport): The Stansted Express train runs regularly from Stansted Airport to London Liverpool Street train station. The Averard is AA and RAC listed. Please be advised that the hotel presently has scaffolding covering the front and side façades. This scaffolding will be in place until the end of summer 2008. These works will not inconvenience guests.
