Hotel Ogawa ***

Set beside the Ogawa River in the wild green mountains of Fukui, Hotel Ogawa boasts a range of hot-spring baths including a mixed-sex bath, serves multi-course Kaiseki dinners and provides Japanese-style rooms with a river-view balcony. A free shuttle runs from JR Tomari Train Station and must be reserved at time of booking.

Pleasantly decorated in light wood with paper screens and a tatami (woven-straw) floor, each room features a seating area with floor cushions and Japanese-style futon bedding. All rooms include a private bathroom. Guests can put on the Yukata robes, drink green tea and listen to the murmurs of the river below.

A 10-minute drive from Lake Asahi-Ogawako, the hotel is a 15-minute drive from the Asahi Interchange (IC) on the Hokuriku Highway. Unazuki Station on the Kurobe Gorge Railway is a 40-minute drive away, while Toyama Airport is about a 1-hour drive. On-site parking is free.

You can relax with a massage or browse the gift shop when not soaking in the indoor and outdoor hot-spring baths. Luggage can be left at the 24-hour reception.

The set-menu Japanese breakfast and traditional dinner are served at the dining room. Hanamatsuri Ramen Shop is open from 20:00-23:30.
