Shieldhill Castle ****Shieldhill is not only steeped in history and atmosphere, but is a genuine 800 year old castle, and is situated in the romantic Clyde Valley. It has everything you could ask for on your special day. The castle has been decorated throughout to complement its historic character and yet provide every modern comfort you would expect in a top quality hotel. Shieldhill Castle contains 26 bedrooms, all of which are individually styled and decorated to a high standard. Conference and wedding facilities are available, enabling to host your event in a spectacular setting. Please note that rooms will be allocated in respect of availability; castle rooms may not always be available. Cancellation Policy: If cancelled up to 2 days before date of arrival, no fee will be charged. If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged. Conveniently situated in the Clyde Valley, please find below routes to Shieldhill Castle. From Edinburgh (28 miles): - Take the A702 (Carlisle) one mile beyond Dolphinton and turn right onto the A721 for Glasgow. - Just beyond Elsrickle, turn left for Biggar. - After 200 yards turn right (no sign) and continue to end of road. - Turn left then right onto Shieldhill Road and the hotel is 1.5 miles further on the right. From Glasgow (30 miles): - Take M8 for Edinburgh and exit at junction 6 onto the A73 for Lanark. - In Carluke turn left onto the A721 for Peebles and at the traffic lights turn right for Biggar. - After 4 miles turn right for Quothquan and continue to end of road. - Turn left onto Shieldhill Road and continue as above. From the South (London 402 miles): - Take the M25, M1, M6, M74 and exit at junction 13 onto the A702 for Edinburgh. - In Biggar, turn left onto the B7016 for Carnwath. - After 3 miles turn left on to Shieldhill Road and continue as above.
