Kunene River Lodge [Apartments]

Nestled between Ruacana and Epupa Falls, Kunene River Lodge offers accommodation surrounded by lush gardens. Kunene River cruises can be arranged. There is a riverside bar or outdoor pool.

The colourfully decorated bungalows and rooms have an outdoor patio. Each comes with a fan and a mosquito net. Some also have air-conditioning.

The a la carte restaurant and bar overlook the Kunene River. Packed lunches are available from the hotel.

Kunene River Lodge can organise many activities such as white-water rafting and scenic or cultural tours. Guests can also enjoy fishing or bird watching.

There are three routes to Kunene River Lodge:

- From the south via Opuwo:
Follow the C35 from Kamanjab, then the C41 to Opuwo. It is then a 2.5 hour drive (135 km) to Kunene River Lodge. First follow the D3700 to Epembe and continue along the D3701. Both are good gravel roads, passable most of the year.

- From the east via Ruacana:
This route takes you along the Kunene River and past Ruacan Falls. Ruacana town is only accessible by tarred roads from the southeast via the B1 and C46. Only the first 13 km of the C35 from Ruacana to Kunene River Lodge is tarred. The next 4 km is a gravel road. Please note that this road is fine in the dry season. When the river floods, then a four-wheel drive is required.

From the south or west via Epupa and/or Epembe:
- There is a 165 km gravel road from Epupa Falls to Epembe, and then from Epembe to Kunene River Lodge. Both roads are graded regularly. Please take special note for the 100 km riverside road from Epupa to Kunene River Lodge. It should only be done in a high clearance four-wheel drive by experienced drivers and preferably with another vehicle.
