From Johannesburg to St Lucia Take the N12 South until you reach Mtubatuba, where you should turn left onto the R618 and follow the signs to St Lucia. From Durban to St Lucia: Take the N2 North in the direction of Empangeni / Pongola. When you reach Mtubatuba you should turn right onto the R618 and follow the signs to St Lucia. To the guesthouse: After about 25 km you will cross the bridge over the estuary in St Lucia. At the T-junction, turn right into McKenzie St, you will pass a Spar on your left. When you see a small ticket office and a Wimpy on your left, you should take the next left into Dolfyn St. From here, take the 2nd turning on your right which is Pelican Street, then the first left on to Kuda Street. At the end of this road, you cross onto Hornbill Street and you can follow the signs to Serene-estate Guesthouse. St Lucia Esturary lies between the Indian Ocean and the lower reaches of Lake St Lucia and is a peninsula of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. The 330,00 hectare estuary, coastland and natural lakes stretches some 220 km from St Lucia up to the border with Mozambique. iSimangaliso is the largest wetland area in Africa and is characterized by its broad diversity of wildlife, marine life and bird life. The town of St Lucia is fast becoming a popular destination for eco-tourists using it as a base to explore the beautiful surroundings. St. Lucia itself is a neatly laid out town with a bustling main street and offers a number of retail options and restaurants. With so much on offer in the diverse surroundings, guests can enjoy the outdoor life taking part in such activities as bird safaris, turtle tours (October-March), whale watching (June-November), Hluhluwe game drives to spot the Big 5, estuary boat cruises, night drive safaris, hiking & wildnerness trails and so much more.
