Porcupine Pie Boutique Lodge ****Beautifully situated within a rich and diverse mountainous landscape, this luxurious lodge is ideally located in an area full of everything any guest could ever wish for in a holiday. Set among lush surroundings with stunning views, this property boasts a privileged position along the Garden Route with its famous golf courses. Such a strategic situation also features extreme sports activities and the mountains impress in the beautiful background, perfect for hiking, cycling or simply relaxing amidst a tranquil natural environment. At this lodge guests can hike through the Cape Fynbos containing abundant birdlife, picnic at the river and cool off in a mountain pool. Then dine under the stars before bathing in the moonlight. All of this can be experienced without leaving the private estate. Housing sumptuous chalets offering seamless service and superb cuisine, every aspect of the accommodation is designed to indulge you and create a satisfying stay. Full breakfasts are served either in the dining room or on the deck, weather permitting. Light lunches are available for those wishing to stay and relax. By Car: - From the N2, turn into Wilderness Village passing Protea Hotel to the T-junction. - Turn left into Heights Road and follow it up into Wilderness Heights for 3.8 km. - At Old George/Knysna Main Road, proceed along the gravel road for 1.6 km towards Knysna, Hoekwil. - Turn right into Ten Mile Lane, Tien Myl Laan, and proceed for 3.4 km; the last 2.4 km will be on a concrete strip road. - You will then reach the lodge. - From George along Courtenay, turn left to Saasveld. - Continue past Saasveld along Old George/Knysna Main Road until you reach the turn-off for Wilderness. - From there, proceed along the gravel road for 1.6 km towards Knysna, Hoekwil. - Then follow the instructions above. The lodge is centrally situated in the Garden Route golfing Mecca which was recently voted the top golf destination in the Middle East and Africa. It offers a wide variety of numerous championship golf courses. We have an exclusive arrangement with the Garden Route Golf Academy whereby they will arrange and host games at any of the Garden Route courses. Johann Lourens is a qualified PGA Pro, and in addition to being in a position to assist in all aspects of the game, can accompany our guests on their rounds of golf. On the estate there are spectacular walks through a range of vegetation, ensuring that the birdlife is both varied and prolific. There are horse riding trails from the valley into the foothills of the Outeniqua Mountains, as well as mountain biking and hiking routes. After an energetic morning there is no better way of relaxing than with a picnic at the river and swimming in the refreshing rock pools. Whale watching is available from August to October, and it is possible to go paragliding and surfing along the Wilderness coastline. For the more adventurous there are wonderful opportunities such as shark diving at Mossel Bay, bungee jumping at Blaaukranz River, debatably the world’s highest bungee jump, and ostrich riding at Oudtshoorn.
